Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is an independent not-for-profit organisation whose stated objective is to drive greenhouse gas emissions reductions and improved water management by asking almost 6,000 of the world’s largest companies to measure, disclose, manage and share their climate strategies, GHG emissions, energy use and water information in a standardised online format.
The investor community is powerfully behind CDP, in 2012 there were 655 institutional investors representing in excess of US$78 trillion in assets ranging from pensions funds, insurance companies, through to asset managers and investment banks.
Olam responded to CDP to:
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding & effective management of our climate change opportunities & risks to the widest possible community of internal and external stakeholders.
Raise internal awareness of relevant climate change issues to support the development and implementation of our strategy.
Further develop our stakeholder relationships to build credibility and earn trust.
