Sustainability in Action
Olam currently has 115 Sustainability Initiatives on the ground across 30 countries, touching the lives of 1.75 million farmers and their communities. These Initiatives focus primarily on generating long-term rural livelihoods for the small-holder farmers in our network and the communities where they live. We aim to move these farmers to a more commercially-oriented small-scale agricultural sector by improving their linkage to the global supply chain.
We work in close partnership with the public, private and NGO sectors to create lasting, positive social and economic change in these communities by unlocking mutual value. These partnership models are essential in the delivery of the multitude of initiatives underway at any one time so that farmers in emerging economies can benefit from income generation; food security; local infrastructure development; health awareness and primary education investments.
We have outlined a select few of our Initiatives in this section of the website, divided between the three pillars from our Vision Statement: Environmental Stewardship, Economic Prosperity and Social Welfare.
