Olam Livelihood Charter

The Olam Livelihood Charter (OLC), formalises our long-standing commitment to invest in the rural communities of emerging countries across the world and are committed to play an ongoing lead role in strengthening farmers within the global supply chain. We aim to bring prosperity to our farming and rural communities. We build long-term relationships based on fairness and trust. We seek to transfer skills and knowledge through partnerships.

UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

Our sustainability strategy in emerging markets is closely aligned to the UN MDGs, a set of global development targets adopted in 2000 for achievement by 2015. We have developed a number of models for tackling the issues of poverty, hunger, education and health by unlocking mutual value, examples can be found in our latest Sustainability Report or on the MDG table to the right. Since their inception, the MDGs have provided a focus of alignment and commitment for our employees, business associates and partners, all working together to ensure the basic human rights of each individual to food, health, education, shelter and security.
