The foundation of Olam’s success has always been its people. Through our experienced management and on-ground teams, we have successfully built up strong capabilities, both at origins for procurement and at destinations for marketing and distribution.
Our human resource processes focus on recruitment, training and career advancement, elements will have allowed us to attract, retain and motivate the right coffee professionals. Today, our coffee team comprises 20 people from over 20 nationalities, each with diverse experiences across various countries in origination, processing, logistics, quality, marketing and futures trading. In combining this talent with our vast industry experience, we have been able to successfully integrate valuable market knowledge with the best practices – a key factor in our growth.
With a direct marketing presence in most of the important markets, and offices in Singapore, Geneva, Genoa (Italy), New York, California and Ljubljana, we take pride in uniting our global reach through “shared values” that we embrace to execute our business strategies. This emphasis has helped us achieve and sustain leadership positions in most coffee origins together with strong client relationships across the globe.
Specialty Coffee Marketing
Our experienced New York and California-based marketing teams, all Q-graded cuppers with experience across different coffee growing regions, have contributed to our extensive origination and marketing expertise for a wide selection of specialty and certified coffees. Providing the procurement expertise to assist buyers locate exceptional coffees for the right price, they are regularly invited to participate as judges in major cupping competitions around the world, and have served on the Boards of both the Specialty Coffee Association of America and the Pacific Coast Coffee Association.
