Olam first began operations in South Africa in 2000. Today, we operate two plants locally, one for the packaging of rice and beans, and the other, a peanut-processing plant located in Jan Kemp Dorp. With our head office in Durban and regional offices in Northern Cape, Johannesburg and Ballito, we employ 98 permanent staff across our operations, plus an additional 200 seasonal employees during our peak operating seasons.

Our grains trading desk was set up in 2010, to handle our origination and trading of wheat, maize and soya meal. Concurrently, our packaged foods business is responsible for the packing and distribution of a pre-mix coffee, the current leader in the pre-mix coffee market space.

In managing an integrated supply chain for our customers, we have effectively managed risk and created greater value for them, right from origination and processing, to logistics, marketing, brand building and distribution.
