Olam Honduras was established in December 2006 and started its coffee operations in Honduras in January 2007. From its humble beginnings exporting less than 20,000 bags of coffee in our first year, Olam Honduras has grown rapidly to become the 4th biggest exporter, handling close to 400,000 bags of Mild Arabica coffee.
The operations have also evolved from being only in San Pedro Sula to a fully-fledged primary procurement network with eight up-country buying units. We currently have a presence in all the principal coffee growing areas of the country with a supplier base of more than 650 suppliers and farmers.
Our processing network consists of two up-country drying stations with our principal processing factory located in the city of San Pedro Sula. Over the last years, we have increased our participation in the high quality regions, allowing us to emerge as one of the top exporters of specialty coffee from Honduras, offering these products under our own well-recognised brand names.
