Olam started its teak origination operations in Central America in 2010 with our setup of Outspan in Costa Rica. Since then, we have grown to become the largest Teak exporter in Costa Rica, and have also extended our origination business into our neighbouring countries of El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala.

Today, with 23 permanent employees and operations supported by strong infrastructure and a clear focus on quality and execution, we now have an extensive presence in all of Costa Rica’s major growing areas.

Our consistent growth is based on a clear strategic direction to develop partnerships with large, well-managed plantations. Concurrently, we have also strived to inculcate market best practices into our operations, to consolidate our leadership position as the preferred trading partner for the country’s teak industry.
